Arctic Council

Arctic Council is the international organization created circumpolar countries for cooperation in the field of conservation and development of the region.

Circumpolar countries are Russia, Canada, United States, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Sweden. Permanent observer status are 6 organizations representing the interests of indigenous peoples of the
Arctic.

The Council was established in 1996. It consists of constantly are 6 working groups to address pollution; Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna; Protection of the Arctic Marine Environment; Arctic Monitoring and Assessment; on prevention, preparedness and disaster response; on Sustainable Development.

Eight meeting of the Arctic at the level of Foreign Ministers held every two years the Presidency (in 2013-2015 is Canada). Committee of Senior Officials of the Council - the ambassadors of the Foreign Ministry - meets regularly every six months.
